AVID ABOUT A CLIMATE OF COLLEGE & CAREER: We employ AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school-wide to promote a “College & Career” climate throughout the building. College pennants line our hallways, teachers decorate doors with their college logos, and on Fridays, students and teachers wear college t-shirts. Our AVID-trained teachers use specific instructional strategies for critical, high-level thinking by focusing on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. By teaching students life skills, such as leadership and goal-setting, we have created a climate where students are empowered to create a pathway to their future.

ON-SITE COUNSELING FOR THE WHOLE CHILD: Our partnership with Chris 180 benefits the whole child by addressing students' social and emotional needs (e.g. anxiety, stress, peer relations, family challenges, etc.). The On-Site therapist comes every week to host individual and group therapy. This critical support allows every student to connect with a guidance counselor, social worker, school psychologist, or therapist. Students are able to receive professional therapy free of charge, regardless of socioeconomic income. Fostering student success for the whole child means building a strong framework of social-emotional health.
